Both lemons and limes are often thought to have originated from India. Lemons can grow in all
climates but are most likely to be found in sub-tropical regions where the trees blossom several times
during the season. Fruit of various ages can therefore be seen on the same tree at the same time.
Limes need heat and high humidity and are typically grown in tropical regions. Once picked, lemons
do not ripen. Limes on the other hand turn yellow if they are left to ripen on their trees, why
they could be mistaken for lemons. Both fruits last for up to two weeks when picked. They contain
lots of Vitamin C and bioflavonoids, which are both good for the immune system. Lemon juice can help
digestion and clean the system. The juice is also often squeezed on slices of apples and
avocados to prevent browning.
